For Churches.

For a lot of single men and women, the church can be a difficult place to be. Why is this, and how can we increase our awareness to the needs of single people in our congregations?

For starters, the word “single” is pretty broad. The needs of a single 19 year old will be very different to those of someone in their 60s who has never married or has been through divorce.

We believe this categorisation into one word.. “singles”, is sometimes part of the reason churches can struggle to effectively reach out to the single people in their community.

For Others.

If you have single people in your life (and most of us do), include them in your world!

Being single shouldn’t mean you only ever hang out with other single people. For someone struggling with loneliness, community is extremely important whatever that might look like.

We would all do well to diversify our circles and try to avoid making assumptions about what the single people in our lives may or may not be comfortable with. Sometimes just being included makes all the difference!
